It may be no surprise but Ron DeSantis beats Donald Trump in early polls. As a conservative, it is important to note that while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not officially announced his candidacy for President in 2024, it is clear that many Republican voters in the first three primary states are eager for him to do so.
DeSantis Beats Trump in New Hampshire Poll
This is evident in recent polling from the University of New Hampshire, which showed DeSantis with a 42%-30% lead over former President Donald Trump among New Hampshire Republican voters.
It is important to remember that initial polling in 2016 did not always match the eventual electoral college results. For example, in New Hampshire, initial polling had Trump behind both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. However, Trump ultimately went on to win the state’s primary and secure its electoral college votes in the general election.
DeSantis Beats Trump in Iowa Poll
In Iowa, which holds its caucus a week before New Hampshire’s primary, DeSantis is also currently leading Trump, albeit by a smaller margin of 32%-30%. However, it is worth noting that as recently as last June, Trump held a significant lead over DeSantis at 38%-17%. It is important to keep in mind that the race is still fluid and early polling is not always indicative of final results.
DeSantis Beats Trump in South Carolina Poll
In South Carolina, which holds its primary on March 5, DeSantis is currently leading Trump by a margin of 52%-33%. However, it is important to remember that initial polling in 2016 had Trump trailing behind both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio in the state. Despite this, Trump went on to win the South Carolina primary and secure its electoral college votes in the general election.
Will DeSantis Beat Trump?
While these early polls may suggest that DeSantis is currently leading in the first three primary states, it is important to remember that the race is still in its early stages, and anything can happen. As conservatives, it is important to remember that past elections have shown that initial polling does not always match the final results. It is important to wait and see how the race develops before jumping to conclusions.
