In a world where god and religion are often ridiculed, how do you hold onto your faith? This question shouldn’t be as difficult to answer as it is in the current climate. People who go to church are made fun of constantly. Even just mentioning god, especially in your teens and twenties, will get you plenty of funny looks in mainstream society.
So how do we face all of this criticism while staying true to our beliefs? That is the question this article seeks to help you out with.
Surround yourself with likeminded individuals
This is something mentioned often but so commonly overlooked at just how impactful it is. In a world where diversity and inclusion are two commonly preached things, it’s so important to find others also have faith in god and be around them regularly.
How to find similar folks? Well, church and other places of worship are some of the easiest places to do so. Other options are joining a Christian college group, and being very open about your own beliefs so that people who agree with you will seek you out. There are even places online where you can chat with other people of faith.
Stay true to your beliefs
Too commonly we’re made to feel guilty for believing in god when we hang around people who don’t. Staying true to your faith in such cases is paramount. Make sure to always check back in with god, and question others influences on you and your beliefs.
Listening to others who would seek to turn you away from god, and don’t have your best interests at heart is not a good plan. They would seek to make you disbelieve in god to make themselves feel better.
Watch YouTubers and other media that believe in or respect god
It’s always a good idea to follow others on social media who believe in god and have helpful messages. There are plenty of people on all social media that believe in god, or at the very least have respect for religion. YouTubers are no exception. It can be quite uplifting to watch videos by people with similar views as you.
Pray and learn
Belief in god should be a lifelong commitment. Spending plenty of time reading scripture and learning about your religion is a great way to hold onto your own faith in god and not give up hope.
Praying is another helpful thing that will keep you feeling connected to god in world that would have you forget. There’s a reason prayer is so often mentioned.
There’s lots of ways to stay connected to god
While not always easy to keep up faith, there are plenty of ways one can do so even in this world that tries to push you away from your faith every chance it gets. And I hope this list helps give you some ideas on ways to do so.
