Why are people from different ethnicities against the fact that different races can fall in love with each other, no matter the color of their skin? I have fallen in love with a man that is Caucasian, and I am mixed. Even though I have no problems with people falling in love with other people that are not of their culture, there are others who beg to differ.
The top 3 reasons why some people are against interracial relationships are having different cultures, races gatekeeping their people to keep to themselves, and using past history, such as slavery, as an excuse to separate the ethnicities. All of which are not excuses to stop love from sparking.
Being raised different cultures is not always a bad thing. The issue right now lies in the fact that people are gatekeeping their cultures and not wanting to share it amongst other individuals. As I have stated previously in another article, if you live here in America, you are living in a shared cultured country. There is no “this is mine, you can’t have it” kind of attitude. We share no matter what.
African Americans claim that their culture is not ours, even though they live in America. If another race were to take it and use it, it would be considered cultural appropriation. We live in a world full of different cultures and ethnicities who have amazing traditions and arts that can be shared. Being in an interracial relationship could be a great way to share and combine these traditions. But it seems to be a problem to others because of the selfishness of other people.
The second reason for why interracial relationships are an issue are that people, especially the black people, do not want to share “their” men and women. They expect us to date in our race because some believe the white race is going to turn us into slaves. Yes, it sounds crazy, but after I had asked why, that was the response I received. To me, I notice that a lot of black people want their own areas to themselves that do not allow any other race to be near it.
I never understood why, but it sounds like they like the racism. No, they like the drama it causes in order to gain more publicity. All it does is continue the unwanted division. Again, I do not understand why we can’t just be with who we want to be with, no matter if we are black and white. This leads me to the third reason, which to me, has to be the silliest thing I have ever heard.
Not wanting people of a different race, especially blacks and whites, to be together because of the past slavery is ridiculous. How does being in an interracial relationship have anything to do with the society we are living in today? Slavery is not around anymore, at least not in that form. The only form of slavery that has occurred in this day and age is human trafficking, which has absolutely nothing to do with the color of your skin.
I, who am of mixed race, and my boyfriend, who is Caucasian, are in a happy relationship. There is no domination and slave-type actions that people are fearing. I do not belong to the black race, and he doesn’t belong to the white race. We bleed the same color and pee the same color. So, why can’t we be together? How does it affect another person? People have a childish mentality and act senseless if they see a black woman with a white man.
It can lead to violence. I should not have to fear our lives if we go near an all-black neighborhood or an all-white neighborhood. If I am going to be honest, I am more fearful of the black neighborhoods in that regard. I do not care if you are black, white, Asian, Indian, etc., if I love you, and you love me, then why should it matter?
People need to grow up and let people live their lives. Who you love is no one’s business. God did not create different ethnicities to stay within the cultures. We are supposed to share traditions and love one another.
It says in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”
If God is okay with it, then it is not our will to judge.
