A man attempted to carjack in North Las Vegas in November and was shot and killed. The woman reportedly grabbed the gun from her assailant and used it to defend herself. Unidentified woman was picking up her friend on the way to a Thanksgiving gathering when she was attacked. While she and her friend were waiting in their car, they saw another car speeding up to the scene. A second car pulled up next to the woman’s and two black men got out with their guns drawn.
Screaming at the women, the men told them to exit the vehicle. The male passenger popped open the car’s driver side door and yanked the female passenger out by the shirt. He jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to leave, but he couldn’t put the car in “drive” without first pressing a button. Because of this, the female protagonist and her companion were able to make their escape.
The second suspect allegedly told the first man to “just go” before getting into the passenger seat. The first suspect’s gun had been moved from his hand to his lap, and the woman noticed this. After snatching the weapon, she took off running. While on the ground, she was tackled by the first suspect, but she still managed to fire at him, killing him. Even though the second suspect opened fire on her, she was able to escape and fix the gun’s malfunction.
The woman ran to the police when she heard sirens, where she was cuffed and then released without being arrested. When police arrived, they discovered the first suspect dead in the street, bleeding from the head. His ski goggles, jacket, and jeans were all black. The fate of the second suspect, if he or she was apprehended, is unknown.
Both the woman and her friend were likely spared their lives thanks to her quick wit and courage. It’s crucial for people to stay alert and take precautions against potential threats in order to reduce the stress and danger of being a victim of a carjacking. The woman in this case was able to end the threat and protect herself by using her attacker’s own weapon against him.
