Alec Baldwin’s Long History of Raging
Alec Baldwin has a long and storied history of being an absolute rage machine. This is common knowledge. Many will recall his profanity-laced tirade against his own 11-year-old daughter back in 2007. All it takes is one search on YouTube to find countless examples of his predisposition toward flying off the handle over absolutely anything. His history of anger management problems has obviously been a topic of discussion following his shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
After he rushed to publicize his version of the events that transpired that day, appearing on ABC with George Stephanopoulos, many were quick to point out that what he was claiming could not possibly be true. “I didn’t pull the trigger!” he said. Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of firearms knows that is simply impossible. He came across as very disingenuous and sought to pass the buck to anyone, other than himself. He said he did not feel any guilt over this, because it was not his fault.
In the weeks and months that followed, more information began coming to light. The victim’s family filed a civil suit against Baldwin, and during the course of legal proceedings, a 3D animated recreation of the incident was made public. The clip takes place inside the church on the set of “Rust.” It is not difficult to have some doubt about whether this was really an accident at all after viewing it.
It seems, based on accounts given by many individuals who were on the film crew, that Baldwin and Hutchins had clashing personalities. In the Stephanopoulos interview, Baldwin recounts the events right before he fired. “Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?”, he asks Hutchins. Read that in the context of a film set that had been having numerous logistical and personnel issues, an enraged Alec Baldwin, and a cinematographer with a strong personality, and with whom he had already clashed. Suddenly his repeated, “Can you see that?”, takes on a different tone. It is comically easy to imagine that Baldwin could murder someone in a fit of rage, and, personally, I think this was murder.
Involuntary Manslaughter, or Murder?
Baldwin has now had charges filed against him by New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies. While it is at least some degree of justice, let’s face it, Alec Baldwin is getting a slap on the wrist because of his status, not just as an actor, but as a firmly left-wing establishmentarian, and outspoken supporter of the Democrats.
At this point, who really expects justice to be enacted against those within “the Cathedral” of the cultural establishment? Live rounds were found strewn about in random locations on the set, but the most damning of all? Why of course, in Baldwin’s own holster. That, in my view, could very well point to this possibly being premeditated. I would not put it past him.
Though obviously, it is not enough. The man has been an actor since 1987; he should know all the safety procedures for handling firearms on set. No defense he could possibly muster can excuse the fact that he pointed a gun at another person. Whether loaded or not, that indicates some degree of intent. It’s not likely he will be convicted, and even if he is, he likely won’t serve any prison time.
