It’s official, many conservative media pundits have turned on Trump, and now have cozied up to Ron DeSantis – joining the leftist media in sparking a battle between two political pugilists.
For anyone who follows Andrew Klavan (I’m one of the 150 people), Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh or Dave Rubin, to name a few – it’s clear who they support. They’ve openly campaigned for Trump on their platform repeatedly, and have oftentimes even attacked Trump’s character.
While they don’t represent all of conservative media, they do have millions of followers (such as myself).
Everything Trump has done – getting unemployment to 50-year lows, raising household incomes, passing a 3.2 trillion tax relief cut, building (part of) the wall, the list goes on – some people seem to forget.
Now there’s Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis is someone new to talk about. They’ve already opined on Trump to the point of vacancy. To them, DeSantis is a shiny new toy. A proven Governor, much younger, policy driven like Trump without the baggage of Trump. There’s a lot to like about DeSantis.
Even liberal pundit Bill Maher may vote for the man.
And I admit, he is a worthy candidate. But most everyday Americans don’t want him to run. Yet.
Besides wanting them to run on the same ticket, what they really want (most of them, remember) is for DeSantis to wait his turn. They feel 2028 is his time, not now. They want him to continue being The Staple Governor, making Florida Great Again.
Conservative in-fighting isn’t good, despite being part of ‘politics’
What we don’t want is in-fighting, like we’ve started to see. And that’s what these pundits, and the media are successfully promoting.

That’s where Donald Trump needs to be careful. Trump supporters like DeSantis. I like DeSantis.
Ron DeSantis hasn’t even announced his candidacy, but Trump keeps laying the groundwork for a Primary battle the likes of which we’ve never seen, as Trump would say.
Earlier today, for instance, Trump took to Truth Social (Conservative Hangout Central) to voice his opinion on the Governor.
“The real Ron is a RINO GLOBALIST, who closed quickly down Florida and even its beaches. Loved the Vaccines and wasted big money on “Testing.” How quickly people forget!” posted Trump.
DeSantis recently responding that he got re-elected is passive aggressive at best.
“I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles, it’s been happening for many, many years,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Bradenton where he was asked about Trump’s recent digs at him.
“The good thing is, is that the people are able to render a judgment on that whether they re-elect you or not. And I’m happy to say — you know in my case — not only did we win re-election, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has had in the history of the state of Florida. … That verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida.”
It wasn’t that long ago that the two were buddy-buddy.
I get it. Politics is an ugly affair. Think of some of the nastiest campaign ads – it really is no holds barred. And all Trump is doing is feeling out DeSantis, popping him with a few jabs to see how he will respond.
But the problem is, DeSantis hasn’t even entered the ring yet.
