Recently, Kid Rock (real name: Robert James Ritchie) discussed the fate of the 160-year-old Beechwood Hall in Williamson County, Tennessee, in an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Rock is worried that the current owner, Larry Keele, will demolish the property that once belonged to Hank Williams Sr., Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill.
The fear was sparked when Franklin resident Leonora Clifford, whose ancestors built Beechwood Hall, posted on social media that the building was going to be demolished soon. Keele, on the other hand, claims to have “absolutely no plan for demolition” and to have been “working closely with the Heritage Foundation and its team of advisors.”
Williamson County’s official historian, Rick Warwick, was Keele’s first guest on the property tour with the architect. Warwick stated that the owner had removed the barristers from the staircase and ripped out the back of the house because a structural engineer had said it was unsafe.
Kid Rock spoke out against the potential destruction of the historic property, referring to Keele’s background as a graduate of Tennessee Tech University who later worked in California as an example of “invasion from the state of California.” Although Rock expressed his desire for a peaceful resolution, he did not rule out the possibility of “hillbilly stuff goin’ on.”
Williamson County Commissioners have started putting together a “task force” to investigate the feasibility of preserving Beechwood Hall and other historic properties in the area. Rogers Anderson, mayor of the county, is spearheading the effort to preserve these historical artifacts.
