Ron DeSantis has made Florida great again. At one point (and it feels like eons ago), Trump made America great again. So why not join forces and run on the same ticket?
This will likely never happen. It would make too much sense for the Conservative Movement, after all.
I’m deeply embedded amongst my freedom-loving peers – all my friends are conservative, my lovely ex-wife and her boyfriend are conservative, my immediate family is conservative, my co-workers are conservative, hell – even my teenaged TikTok watching kids are conservative (thanks in large part to my efforts to make them so). And the consensus is split right down the middle between who should be President between the two.
Trump and DeSantis have essentially divided the Republican Party, according my circle of colleagues, family, and friends.
And it’s not just the 30 or so people close to me who I’ve polled, I’m a gluten for conservative YouTubers, as well. I follow the usual suspects from Matt Walsh, and Glenn Beck to Mark Dice and Officer Tatum – and everyone in between.
They’re divided as well. Dice, for instance, wants Trump. Walsh (and essentially all those at The DW) are in bed with DeSantis.
One need only look at the comments section of their videos to see how plainly and clearly split we are. The thing is, folks who like DeSantis and think it’s his time once liked Trump (and still do, to some degree, but feel his time has passed).
And those who like Trump and think he was robbed also like DeSantis (and they want him to run in 2028, but just not in 2024).
Yet, here we are – divided amongst ourselves. While the left eats it all up.
This division, and the “81 million people” who voted for Biden, may cost us the 2024 election.
Sure, folks may vote for whomever wins the Republican Primary between the two. But they may not.
Trump’s Popularity is hard to compete with
From popular opinion, such as my own, Trump is arguably the greatest US President in US history. He has awoken a political movement on par with and in excess of the tyrannical Marxism-Leninism movement. People are called Trumpers for a reason, and parts of the country are called “MAGA Country” for a reason.
He exposed the underpinnings of corruption in the US Government. He brought peace through strength, led a prospering economy and made us energy dependent like nobody could have. He’s done quite a lot.
But DeSantis, a younger more refined version of Trump, some would say – or someone without the baggage and the ego of Trump – has turned Florida into a premiere destination spot for red-blooded Americans. He handled hurricanes with ease, enacted more rights for Parents in their fight against schools, and brought the fight to WOKE ideology on all fronts.
But, as multiple media outlets are reporting, DeSantis lacks the charm to run for President. Something Trump has an abundance of.
Together they would be unstoppable. So why don’t they join forces? It’s a question I can’t answer – which is why I’m asking it. But, really, why not bring the conservative movement together?
Conservatives like Governor Noem of South Dakota, and they think Senator Tim Scott is great. But the clear cut 1-2 punch is Trump and DeSantis, or DeSantis and Trump – whichever way you roll it.
Trump’s barbs at “DeSantimonious” and DeSantis’ dis at the failed Red Wave are clear signs that my dream duo may not unite like many hope.
Instead what we’re left with is more division amongst the Conservative Movement when there need not be.
